Process Safety Management

The global proliferation of processes handling hazardous chemicals and their inventories in recent decades saw the promulgation of PSM regulations in the United States in 1992. The regulations was soon adopted internationally.

Ongoing work to enhance the efficacy of PSM led to an important recognition: That prevailing focus of major corporations and authorities on Personal Safety was inadequate to arrest the continuing increase in the frequency of high-consequence, often catastrophic, process related incidents.

This led to the emphasis on Process Safety and adoption of appropriate metrics and measures. In rationalising the AIMS™ Spectra, focus is retained within PSM to system specific and selected PSM unique elements. Other technical constituents of PSM are entrusted to subject-matter specific AIMS™ Spectra elements.
