One of the fundamentals of H&S management is assuring that an organisation’s products, processes and activities do not harm People nor The Environment. People here includes employees, contractors, customers and the community at large. There are several factors that have bearing on the successful attainment of this goal. They include the organisation’s internal policies and principles, e.g. Product Stewardship; legislation and regulations, e.g. “Right-to-Know” and REACH; international frameworks like Globally Harmonised System (GHS); and industry self-regulatory initiatives like “Responsible Care”.
